Choosing the Liquidator of Your Estate
The liquidator of your estate
is the person who will have legal authority to carry out the provisions
of your will. The person you choose must be someone who is knowledgeable
about business and financial matters. You must also be sure that the person
you choose will be able to make the appropriate decisions.
You may designate your spouse as liquidator
and trustee. It is also a good idea to appoint a relative, a friend or
a colleague in whom you have full confidence, or to contact a specialist
(lawyer, notary, trust company, etc) in the event that your spouse predeceases
you or would be incapable of carrying out the required duties.
In addition, you must notify the liquidator
of your estate that you have designated him and obtain his consent.
